About me

I was born in Sydney, Australia long ago enough to have become an ABBA fan not quite from the beginning, but almost.

In 1975 I heard Mamma Mia at a party and I was immediately hooked. I got the ABBA album for Christmas that year and became an ABBA fan for life.

In March 1977 I saw ABBA in concert in Sydney at their famous first Australian concert, in the rain with 20,000 other wet but happy concertgoers. I have many vivid memories of the evening, not tainted by repeated viewings of ABBA -The Movie

I have been involved in many ABBA fan events since 1984 – conventions, dance party nights, and fan gatherings. Since 1999 I have contributed to many ABBA projects, including official releases from Universal Music. In 2009 I became the Australian representative of the Official International ABBA Fan Club.

In 2010/11 I worked as a volunteer at the ABBAWORLD exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, helping guests through the exhibits. I also loaned several items on display there and at the preceding exhibition in Melbourne in 2010.

I attended the world premiere of Mamma Mia! in London in 1999, as well as premieres in Melbourne in 2001 and Sydney in 2002 and again in 2009. Also in 2009 I was at the premiere of Kristina in English at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2022 I was thrilled to be in London for the premiere of ABBA Voyage at ABBA Arena.

My first book ABBA: Song By Song was published in 2020. The book details every released ABBA song, plus many known unreleased songs performed in concert, on TV or radio, or that have somehow been made public.

I am a semi-regular columnist for the Official International ABBA Fan Club Magazine, and have contributed to ABBA Intermezzo, DNA, Q, and Record Collector magazines.
