Success has not come easy for Abba. When they won the Eurovision Song Context they appeared as two innocent couples singing a catchy song. The accessibility of their tunes soon made them favourites of the deejays and the public.

The string of hits grew longer and the melodies more sophisticated. Their management company became one of Sweden’s biggest exporters next to Volvo but behind the scenes the strain of touring and the pressures of fame eventually caused both their marriages to fail. Here, in quotes from contemporary interviews, is the Abba story, told by the group themselves.

ABAB geeft nauwelijks interviews. Ze leven vrijwel als kluizenaars in en nabij Stockholm. Toch is hun leven voor miljoenen een bron van nieuwsgierigheid. Een supergroep als ABBA was er nog niet eerder. Jong en oud dweept met hum muziek en graagt de idolen op handen. In did boek laat het fameuze viertal het achterste van hun tong zien. Openhartig antwoorden ze op de vele vragen, die hen de afgelopen tijd zijn gesteld. Zo komt de lezer erachter of het wel zo aangenaam is om zeer rijk en heel erg populair to zijn.
