Ask – March 2025

Has there ever been a suggestion to issue a CD/LP of the Voyage stage show?

Mike, Canada

That topic was actually brought up in a fan club webinar with Svana Gisla and Ludvig Andersson a couple of years ago. They both thought a show album was a good idea and took it on board. Whether it will happen or not, we’ll have to wait and see.

Do we know how many copies were sold for ABBA The Singles – The First Fifty Years so far? Did it get any certification? I was under the impression the compilation did well in Germany, France and Ireland.

Kindest regards,
Pascale, France

I haven’t seen any sales figures, and it doesn’t seem to have received any certifications (yet?). The compilation peaked at number 5 in Germany, 12 in The Netherlands and Austria, and 17 in the UK. In Australia it’s still hanging around the Catalogue Albums chart – this very week it’s at number 41. I’ll try to find out more information and post it here.

The last compilation was called “The first fifty years”. That means there will be a Vol. 2, right? If so, when will it be released?

Thank you!
Sabine from Germany

The title was an homage to 1982’s The Singles – The First Ten Years. Which as we know was the last album of the original ABBA era. No, it does not mean there will not be a second volume.

When Voyage was opened the LP was announced to promote it as if ABBA were going on tour like Benny said.  Do you think if it opens in Australia a new song will be available to promote it over there?

All the best
Graeme, UK

I doubt it. Benny has emphatically said that no new songs will be released (See the last question in January 2025‘s Q&As). I can imagine a commemorative version of the Voyage album would be released whenever the concert opens at a new venue.
