Are the any plans for the album Anni-Frid Lyngstad FRIDA (1971) to bring it out on CD?
Thank you and my best wishes
Wolfgang from Germany
Not as far as I know. The album was re-released on vinyl for Record Store Day in 2017, and is available on digital services. The full contents were included on the double CD Frida 1967-1972, released in 1997 but unfortunately out of print.
As I’m currently on holiday, I got to thinking where did ABBA take their vacations. either together or solo?
Diedre, UK
That’s a tricky question. We know of a few vacations that the members took during the ABBA years. Most famously, the four (plus Frida’s daughter Lise-Lotte) went to Cyprus in 1970, where they were photographed for a travel brochure inviting Swedes to travel to Cyprus and performed as a quartet for United Nations soldiers stationed on the island. There is a photo of Björn and Agnetha with their daughter Linda presumably in Greece in 1974 or 75, showing toddler Linda pointing at her parents’ image on the front cover of the Greek edition of Waterloo. We know that Benny and Frida enjoyed sailing in the Stockholm archipelago in the summer, and that they also vacationed in the Bahamas in 1978, where they met Paul McCartney and family.
If I buy ABBA Gold from the States, will it have the edited version of ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’ on it?
Simon, UK
ABBA Gold never had an edited version of ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme’, but the original 1992 edition did have edited versions of ‘Voulez-Vous’ and ‘The Name Of The Game’. As far as I’m aware the 1992 version of the CD has been replaced in the US by one of the later reissues with full versions of all songs.
Do we know why Voyage was recorded in RMV studios and not Mono, where it was mixed?
Simon, UK
As I understand it, the studio at Mono Music is quite small. On the Mono Music website it is described as “one of Scandinavia’s most modern mixing studios” rather than a recording facility. RMV seems to be a much larger studio built for full-scale recording.
